In an effort to improve my data visualization skills, I decided to make a new year resolution to start participating in #MakeoverMonday, a weekly challenge to remake a chart to either retell the story or find something new to share. For my first challenge, week 50 was to makeover a map showing Barrier Free Buildings in Singapore.
I spent a lot of time trying to find some sort of pattern in the dataset – it included different areas of Singapore, along with accessibility levels of buildings and the elderly population per region. I thought there would be an interesting relationship between elderly population and accessible buildings, but I did not notice any patterns. In the end, I created a pretty interactive map that would allow someone to look-up their specific region. Maybe next week will be more interesting!
